Why do videos downloaded from iCloud Photos look so low-quality on the Apple TV? It's a 1080p TV, and I have my resolution set correctly, but the videos definitely do not look 1080p. When I view them on my laptop or phone they look great -- sharp, full of detail, etc. On my TV, they're a blurry pixelated mess. Any ideas?

Run speedtest (if Apple TV 4) to get your internet download speed rate.

What are the encoding specs for a video that looks so bad? Here's the metadata info given on one of my video files by the Mediainfo Mac app:

so if my bitrate is less than 16 Mbps I would have problems showing it on my Apple TV.

I had a fee problems a couple years ago with some slideshows I created with Aperture and played on my Apple TV 2. Took a while but I figured out it had to do with the encoding. I think I recall that the problem profile I used to compress had a very high bit rate and the Apple TV 2 could not handle it well so there was a lot of stutter. I recompressed using an Apple TV profile in Handbrake and did not have any problems.
