iCloud Private Relay not hiding my IP address

If iCloud Private Relay is supposed to hide my IP address in Safari ("Hide IP address" switched on in Safari Preferences), then why is my IP address correctly reported on sites like whatismyipaddress.com ?

Works for me checking whatsmyip.org and also on the site you referenced. I use the country and timezone option.

I've tried both options ("general location" and "country and time zone"), and my IP address is still correctly reported.
