Thinking more I am now convinced that not sharing the folders/albums is by design, not a bug.

The difference is all about the starting point.

1. Sharing a Library which starts with few or no photos, it makes sense not to include folders and albums. Let everyone create their own if they want to, don't impose an organisation.

2. Sharing an existing 80K library with 600 albums it makes total sense to include them.

If correct, this is bad news for couples like my wife and I who will inevitably be in the second category.

The best I can hope for is an option.
well there i thought this was going to solve our problem. But no, if we cant bring across our current album structure what is the point....
I guess if you are starting for scratch thats great, but if you have over a decade of stuff....

Apple have time to change it before Ventura release if enough people feedback.

Not given up hope as I am sure Apple had people like you and me in my mind (at least partly) when they designed this feature.

I am now at the point where we have Ventura and IOS16, etc., installed, and I have been slowly importing hundreds of photos (already in separate folders) into iCloud. (Would have been doing that anyway.)

And this lack of support for folders in Shared Library is madness.
