My wife and I have shared an iCloud account for years. We use photo stream, find my phone, and backup to a paid iCloud account.

Since switching to ios8 we have had some issues. Continuity keeps trying to hand off between our phones with apps and phone calls, really an issue. Also, I can't seem to get handoff to work anymore between my mac running Yosemite. IMessage in particular. I do use a separate apple account for iMessage and that might be the issue.

Anyways, I am thinking if I use a different iCloud account it would solve the problems but not allow us to use the great features of iCloud (photo stream, find my phone etc). Any ideas or ways to work around this?

Only your main iCloud account can have any of that functionality: http://f.cl.ly/items/1d2y0V0f1H1E1A1Y0N23/ClouDrop%20Oct%204,%202014,%2010%3A55%3A42%20AM%20Oct%204,%202014,%2010%3A55%3A42%20AM.png
