I have no idea what's causing this issue and seeking help. My iCloud storage cloud and what is in the devices doesn't match. Both my iPad and iPhone are running the latest iOS.

Mine as you can see says I'm using 3.9gb yet I have only 1.3gb total backed up (I deleted my phone backup last night to see if it made it better, it still has the discrepancy). Any clues how to get back my free 1.1gb space? Below are screenshots showing this.

And I've never been able to delete the 5.1mb Mail storage and have no idea what it even is. I went to iCloud on my laptop and deleted the 4 emails that were in the iCloud mail box.

Sorry if this isn't the best forum for this bit it made logical sense to me.

You say that you have 2.4 unaccounted for????? 1.3+2.6=3.9....5.0-3.9=1.1
I don't know where the 1.1 went, but I also don't understand how you came up with 2.4 unaccounted for.

Yah sorry, fuzzy math. I have everything deleted in iCloud on my Mac and see a 1.1gb backup. When I click on backups it's blank. I have a feeling it's counting an old iPhone 5 that I deleted/wiped/sold months ago.

Any idea how to clear out the invisible 1.1gb?

Yep, I was gonna suggest that it is about the size of a backup. If it were me, I would call Apple..

Apple Support call this morning. She said the iCloud app takes data away regardless whether you have any backups or not. Said you can't use it and ever have 0gb storage.

I call complete BS. 1.1gb can't be used to run a program backup IMO.

This must be some way to force people to ugadevtheupgrade storage options.

Are you talking about the iCloud Drive app? You didn't mention that.

I've never used it. It was selected on my iPhone under iCloud - could that be it?

I have the iCloud app on my iMac so I can look at the storage but haven't done anything else with it.

Edit: I turned iCloud Drive off on all my devices and iMac and signed out on my iMac and it has no impact on the unaccounted for 1.1gb. Still showing as 3.9gb available.

I've just had this with my new iPhone 6s. I had some failed backups from the 6s which seemed to take up the storage but not be reported - hence some 3 GB "missing" space. I sorted it out in the end by deleting the 6s backup from the iCloud panel (on the iPhone) even though it was reported as taking up 0 KB space. My suggestions is to delete the iPad backup and see if you get the full 5 GB back. If so, backup the iPad again and you'll be in business. If not, then you might be in a bit of trouble as it could be your iPhone 5 backup, but you say you've sold it. Best bet might be to get back onto Apple and ask them to completely wipe your iCloud storage.
