iCloud storage full but won’t update after deleting items

my iCloud storage is maxed out so I deleted items from my iPhone that were on the manage space list but it didn’t lower the space used. How do I delete items to lower my GBs used?

Check “recently deleted items” folder

I did.

Maybe try from a laptop - sometimes my recently deleted folder on the phone doesn’t update.

Also if you deleted messages - go into message select EDIT - recently deleted messages and then delete there - doesn't go away for 30 days unless you do that. Similar for photos - bottom of page recently deleted.
