icloud sync between iOS 7 and 10.6

Hi there.

I'm using an iPhone 5c (iOS 7)
iPad Mini Retina (iOS 7)
but still due to Logic 7 and an overall dislike of Lion and it's successors i am still on snow leopard.

iCloud is not easy..
as it's working for my calender I have a problem to fix and i'm not sure how to:
i'd be good to manually sync to my macbook, but i'd like to sync the contacts on the iPad and the iPhone via iCloud.

any ideas without doubling the contacts anywhere?
and: no, i don't want to update my macbook!
