I’ve been having the same issues with syncing across iCloud for many years. This is across multiple computers, iPads, and iPhones.
The Calendar app syncs very well, it’s essentially instant across devices. Shortly after I unlock my Mac computer I could open up the Calendar app and it will be updated to reflect all the entries I made on my iPhone.
The Files app is different. if I save a file to “Desktop“ on my iPhone, when I go to my Mac computer it won’t show on the desktop. It might randomly pop up an hour later. I learned a workaround for this, I read somewhere that I could right click the desktop and choose “new folder” and that will sync the desktop and my file will appear. But I shouldn’t have to manually do that each time.
The Notes app is just as bad, possibly worse. I will have to type stuff out and then delete it in order to get it to update.
Again, this is across multiple installations on multiple different computers and devices over many years, so disconnecting and reconnecting to iCloud has never helped.
