Im having trouble getting this started on my MacBook. I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 and have managed to get a welcome to icloud mail (I think from my iphone which seems to be set up ok), but when I click on my "System Preferences" there is no "iCloud" icon under internet & wireless.

Can anyone tell me where Im going wrong?

tried that.... I Purchased it on the Apps store and downloaded and it said it installed but still no 'icloud"

I'd really appreciate some help with installing Lion. I go to the apple website and search Mac OS X Lion and press the "upgrade now" button and it takes me to the OS X Lion page and instead of a price it is showing me "install" (cause I have already paid for it). I click the "install" button and the swirly circle goes for a few seconds ..... then...... nothing :(

I restart the MacBook and still no iCloud under my system preferences :(

Where am I going wrong?

Click on the far top left menu on the menu bar. Select "about this Mac". What does the version show?

If you're version 10.6.8 then you're not on Lion; Lion is 10.7.

I haven't upgraded personally because my iMac came with Lion, but try re-downloading in the Mac App Store and letting it do its thing.

Just checking, but the App store just downloads the upgrade application, you have run the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application which the App store places into your Applications folder to actually upgrade to Lion. Did you do this?

Patience is Golden...

You're not waiting long enough. It took my system over four hours just to download the Lion, then another hour to run the install script. This on a DSL.

Tell it to install again, then look at your modem's data lights. They should be flashing maniacally as it downloads about Four Gigabytes worth of OS-X.

Then, go take a nap, read a book, whatever...

If you downloaded 10.7.2 from the App Store, that's all you need. Did you launch the installer?

Launchpad --> Lion icon --> click on it
