Icon Attributes

    Hello I was curious is there a setting or option someone in OS X to give files and folders the store of magnetic feature Windows has? What I mean is when I move a folder on the desktop it stays where ever I place it. However I personally like things lined up, so is there an option so they are all in line?

    Right Click -> Clean Up will line up icons to a grid.

    If you want a particular folder to keep stuff arranged - right click + alt -> you'll see arrange by changed to keep arranged by - thus that folder will always line up on a grid arranged by your choice.

    Use Show View Options and select Snap to Grid for Arrange By.
    Then you will have to use Clean Up or manually move icons to get them to "obey".
