If it won't have the capability Sony's Headphone app does, no thanks. It's ridiculous that in 2020 Apple does not have at least a custom EQ app for their headphones.

If they haven’t wind noise cancelation like Sony, they are useless for me.

Most ear/headphones make wind sound even louder. I hope the keep this in mind.

Expected,
But , In todays current Apple,

1. They will be over priced.
2. They will be as good as current headphones.
3. They are way late to the party.
4.They will be nothing special, just another over priced option.

Did I miss the post about iOS 14 being leaked? This article mentions it like it’s already been talked about in a previous article...

lol at everyone subtly slipping in mentioned about how they own Bose already. right or wrong, it's obvious that Bose is the benchmark...no need to mention you own a set.

They are, but Bose has really screwed their base with the last software update. The noise cancelling has been greatly reduced. Bose has no answers

These could be great, the AirPods and now the AirPods pro are game changers, to have such great noise cancelling in such a small comfy great form factor rocks, I’ve used twice now the pro on long haul flights from London to NZ - 24 hours charged along the way, pure bliss. I have some sony xm3 and they’re great but I’d be into some headpods.
I briefly owned the Bose 700 and guys I found them from a design point to be so poorly designed, swiping on volume etc on such a small area because the head band is restricting where your hands need to swipe, man they were disappointing and I’ve loved the Bose as a noise cancelling on aeroplane can. The sony Xm3 are pretty spectacular but with the AirPods pro I’m using them less and less. I’d like the head pods because I’m a fan and Apple really creates wonderful devices it’s not about hype it’s about craft and ease of use and beautiful aesthetics, I’ll still probably use the AirPods pro more they are a holy grail headphone... earphone but I’d like to try the headpod

But will they sound better and be more comfortable than my Bose 700s? If so I'd definitely be interested.

Apple does know how to do sound. Went to a parade where there was a sizable Apple contingent. All the floats were blaring out loud, distorted sound. Then came the Apple float and their sound was wonderful, in a urban noisy environment. Don't know how they did it.

Bose isn't known for their sound quality, so if Apple can get the sound quality right (getting away from the Beats sound) and match or beat Bose noise cancelling, easy of use ...

Although I'm inclined to agree ... before we look for a custom EQ for the headphones (considering iTunes on iOS has it's EQ in Settings yet does not affect playback), the quality of the codec would need to change.

Currently iTunes Match, Apple Music, and iTunes downloads use 256Kbps AAC which is lossless codec, better quality than MP3's. I'd like to see Apple use Hi-Res audio formats like ALAC (lossless compression by Apple) or FLAC Sony's Hi-Res using 24 bit/192 kHz.

I think you meant it's a 256 AAC is a lossy codec. But I agree. I'd like to see the ALAC/FLAC options.

The audio team Apple got moving with Beats was terrific. Like the Siri part or not, the audio part of the HomePod is great. Beats are bass-y and inaccurate, but listen to rap or heavy beats on it, they're great. If I could wear the AirPods Pro, I would. The audio is amazing in that tiny form. Apple's sound is like their cameras: highly MI'd. Imagine Dark Mode for a headphone. Their noise-cancelling is good. Likewise, they can take plain audio and change it, It's still real, or at least an alternate reality. Or they could filter the music the way you want it. Different concert stages. Noise-cancelling or mixed with background sound so you don't kill yourself in traffic. Won't work in a car, or switches to one ear so you have one ear to listen for sirens, tire screeches, the like.

You might want to try SoundID. They have profiles for some 360 headphone models. Made my Studio 3's sound almost decent.
