I’ve never heard of your app before, so I didn’t know what it was. I voted for the new icon because it’s what tipped me off as to what your app does (because I could tell it was an angry alarm clock).

I think in a side-by-side, the first one works better based on the app name.

However, I like the look of the second one better and think with some tweaking would work better (which is why I voted for new).

If you made it look slightly more like an alarm clock, maybe gave it some arms/hands on its face, slightly smaller and/or raised bells (ears) it would paint a little better and bolder picture of an angry alarm clock, symbolizing a rude awakening.

+1. I didn't even notice it was supposed to be an alarm clock guy, until others mentioned it. However, I miss a lot of things others see, so maybe it's just me. 🙂
