Icons don't stay in the same place once I re-boot compute.

Icons don't stay in the same place once I re-boot computer.
They always go on the right side of the screen. Is there a way to lock icons in a set spot or at least some bit of software that can do this for me?
It’s happened after I reinstall OS.
I'm using iMac 24" OS 10.5.6

Try right clicking on your desktop and go to Show View Options. at the bottom see if it says Snap to Grid. that might be doing it...

ok... did you try moving your icons around and re-starting? little more info on the results help.. Just to be on the safe side here. Did you set it to None?
