Reminds me of Apple Store openings... with employes on the side giving high fives to the entering customers. Only this was crazier, with much more screaming, and hoopla. I dig it.

That would have been a very exciting experience to be at the Manhattan 5th Ave Apple Store for the iPhone launch just judging from the video! :)

The Apple store I went to in Woodcliff Lake, NJ was just as fun. They handed out all kinds of free beverages, then when the store closed down at 2 PM they put up black stuff in the windows to block our view. A while later we heard all kinds of cheering comming from inside. They tore down the black covers to reveal giant iPhones counting down the time until 6 PM. They came out, hyping us up, getting us to do the wave and everything (it was a HUGE line, so it was a long wave), then promptly at 6 PM, 50 or so of us were let in to the store in a line to purchase our iPhones. Every person who walked out with an iPhone went through a gauntlet of Apple store employees giving them high-fives and cheering. All in all, an awesome experience.

Awesome video, man! It gave me chills. :D They did the same thing when that store opened for the first time. What a great day it was!

The iPhone launch at the Christiana Mall was also very cheerful. :D

I have to agree, HYSTERICAL! But, hysterical can work. :) We heard the clapping and cheering here in Boston at the Chestnut Hill Mall too. My part of the loooooong line was around the corner, so we only saw the first person to get their iPhone on his way out. We cheered. But, I... uh... I have to say this... this stuff is SCARY. I mean... been said before... its just a phone! :p

I'm a little proud though, because this was definitely a reason to celebrate, and to share that celebration with people all around the country (which is awesome). Even the news stories were glowing and happy. I mean, people want to call it a sort of "madness", but I think its human. Large group awareness, cultishness, iDolatry, kool-aid drinkers? Hey, maybe... but as long as we remember we're just consumers at the end of the day, and keep our receipts, and watch for problems, I guess its all cool. :)
