So i was thinking, How about we have a new sticky/monthly thread where we have a "featured 'tog"...

Yes, this is a thinly veiled attempt for me to learn how to take better images... so being selfish sorry...

What I am thinking is that once a month, we have one of the elders of our corner of the hindernet post a lightweight narrative on an image that we all feel is lovely, then they talk about how they found the location, how they found "the spot", what they used to take the image (filters), why they shot it how they did and how they processed it. Then we have a couple of weeks to take our own image and then said elder gives C&C on our attempts.

Would this be of interest to anyone? My initial thoughts as to why this came up are as usual.... because of @Alexander.Of.Oz, @Mark0 and @anotherscotsman to name but a few who personally I for one ache to take images like... - I know I sound like a stalker but tell me I am wrong!

Any interest at all? or is it too much commitment for our already busy schedules?

I am happy to coordinate the thread - i.e. work on nominations and administer time lines etc

I’d be willing to contribute. I kinda have half a video done (from the location) for posting here about an image of mine that was posted around the end of December. I just need to record my editing and narration of that side of things. I’ll try and finish it.

If you guys like the idea, why not post a link to an image one of us has taken so I can build a queue of images we want to consider - maybe private mail them to me in here to avoid embarrassment of the 'tog so I can approach them and see if they can invest the time to do a narrative - not everyone has time.

Love it. I'm in. Also, a month is a nice amount of time as everyone eventually gets busy. It's like an online master class. Would it be just folks on this forum or do you think a pro would be interested here and there down the line? I'm happy to help when I'm not in the middle of production.

If we start with our wee community for now... Maybe down the line we could ask guests to contribute and yes I thought a month was more likely A good balance

Photographer... Can't type on a screen as you know... So used the short form vernacular that seems to be accepted in the media now - the cool kids say it....

Good idea - one approach would be for you to get the ball rolling by choosing a couple of photos where you think technique could be usefully shared. After that, i could become an additional duty for the Weekly Photo Contest runner-up (to avoid them getting off scot-free) :)

I like the idea! I'd also like to put up @The Bad Guy , @mollyc , @MacRy , @tcphoto1 and @Nathan King as potentials too. I've probably missed heaps, they are just the most recent ones I could think of...

where we have a "featured 'tog"...
Oh, and "Togs" in Queensland, Australia are bathers.

Yeah you lot talk weird... But if you want to wear your budgie smugglers when posting that's cool by me, just no photos. This is a family frifrien forum

To you maybe. To us you are expert with light

In a coffee shop.
Sounds good. But what's a tog?

A question that crossed my mind, as well; not a term I have come across in this context.

tog = pho(tog)rapher

Thank you.

Gosh.

I never knew that; but, since I left the groves of academe, I no longer meet the 'cool kids' (or any others, for that matter).

Likewise.

Ok next step send me private messages to nominate an image (and a link to post) and I will correlate and approach the superstar camera ninja in question and ask them if they want to go first

Can't believe I am quoting Urban Dictionary but here you go....

I’m flattered to be included in those mentioned and would be interested.
Great.

Sounds like a fantastic idea!
Cool.

Mastery of light, posing and PP, to start with!

Likewise for me :)
You have a great eye for unusual details and interesting views.

Looking forward to seeing what people choose and the explanations given behind the pieces.
