I just registered here on the site, but i´ve been reading a lot of post about the iPad Pro 10.5 inches, so i decided to buy one that should be here in some days. So far I realized the 12W charger that comes it´s not useful to charge the iPad while your using it.

That´s why i want to buy the 29W USB-C charger and it´s expensive, but the only solution to use my iPad at office and replace my Macbook. My doubt comes with the USB-C to lightning cable. I find it too expensive, so considering that the iPad already comes with a Lightning cable, can i buy a USB-C to USB-A adapter and plug in the normal cable that way i´d be able to use any Lightning cable anywhere, from an iPhone for example.

Thanks and regards to everyone, you´re so helpful with the information and debate.

I believe the Apple USB-C to Lightning cables (1m and 2m) are the only way to enable 29w charging. Supposedly, there is chip in the cable(s), which negotiates the charging wattage.

The above comment is correct. The USB A adapter is not capable of handling that much power, nor is the normal USB cable that comes with the iPad. Unfortunately I’m in the same boat as you, I will have to bite the bullet and spend the money on the power brick and new cable. If Apple wants us to live in a USB C world then they should really provide the USB C charger and cable.

Depends on the day, but usually I live all over.
What's funny is mine charges fast with the 12w it came with. It keeps a charge even in heavy use. I honestly think Apple for logic purposes should have made a new 20 watt charger for the iPad Pro 12.9"... but again I'm good so far with the 12.
