Ok, so this should be fun.
Post what your ideal situation would be if you had a little bit more coin in terms of mac hardware. What would you get? Feel free to add in whatever you expect next generation macbook pros to be. :)
Rules- Don't be greedy. If you are only planning on eventually buying one computer, keep your ideal setup to at most 2. And try to think about what you actually want/need, not just the most expensive option. :)

Me:
Macbook Pro 13 Inch, Core i3 (or maybe i5?) processor with a 128 or 256 gb SSD.
iMac 27 inch baseline model
Time Capsule 1 TB
my iPhone 3GS
Apple TV

And I would be wanting an Apple cinema display for christmas... You know, just for funsies.

I already have top of the line everything (that I want). I might get the 27" ACD this year but it's not a pressing need as long as my 20" ACD keeps on chugging (5+ years so far).

Me --

1)Waiting on either 13 or 15 inch mbp(for now combination of older mbp and windows laptop(work)

2)23 inch samsung 2343BWX and dell 21 inch lcd ultrasharp(forget the model name) ; this is for floating office we have setup at home(means anyone w/ laptop just plug and play and no dedicated pc here)

3)quad core windows 7 pc(has about 5 TB drives which serves mostly for media.
Went by media pc forum and bought the cheapest components(only has 2 gig of memory but it seems to work really well)

quad core was needed for obvious stuff -- HD content serve and air video

4)ipod touch 4g (for games and air video access)

5)ipad 2 (waiting for it... waiting for it..... waiting for it.....)

6)iphone 5( for 2 of them.. waiting for it.. waiting for it... )

7)apple tv 3 (waiting for it.. so that I can plug it into bedroom tv)

I actually already have my dream machines, but sadly am selling off a couple of them because they aren't being used to their full potential and I'd rather have the coin to spend on something else. I went overkill on getting my real dream machine of a Mac Pro 8 Core top model from last gen, but it is now about to sell on eBay.

I think my realistic "ideal" setup is a 4 core Mac Pro at home and my 11" Air for school, work, travel.

However, depending on what the new MBP is like I might just sell the Air and not replace my current MP 8-Core with a 4-Core as I've been planning.

Desktop: custom rig all around beast. Dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu

Laptop: macbook pro 13"

Phone: right now it's galaxy s but I will get the samsung galaxy s2. I love android and hate ios.

The holy trinity for me

mine would be simple:

1) Bog standard mac pro maybe extra hdd storage or more cores
just for using logic studio final cut etc,

this would be plugged into my tv i've already got a 42" plasma.

i've already got a 13" macbook pro mid 2010, i've currently got £350 left on a gift voucher so i can either get an ipad or apple tv so this is pretty much a cert!.

nothing greedy just i've heard the pro works wonders with logic and final cut!!!

OH and a new keyboard and mouse!!!! pushing the boat out there LOL!!!

Same here. I love apple laptops but their desktops are horrible deals. Also agree with you on android.

Def agree on desktop deals. Win 7 w/ any hardware you choose combination works the best.

But hating ios? Maybe it's just me but IOS device are number one reason why we retired both wii and ps3.. It's the best entertainment accessing device ever made... air video(droid.. umm NO).. ALL the games in the world ( cannot believe p vs z is STILL not available on droid).. I don't know.. how much REAL productivity you can get done on phone but man...

ps:I have droid X as my phone but only because I am waiting on iphone 5 on verizon...

iPhone 4
Ultimate 11" MacBook Air
Hexacore Mac Pro (lots of HD Video encoding)
27" Cinema Display

Currently, my setup is:
iPhone 4
15" 2.4 GHz C2D MacBook Pro (to be upgraded this year) with 160 GB Intel SSD and 1 TB HDD
-hooked up to a 25" TV as a 2nd display

I will be picking up the Air soon. :) Unfortunately, I can't buy a Mac Pro atm because I'm in college and would hate to have to lug one halfway across the country twice a year...

Hmm hard not to be greedy......so the first machine i'd buy right now if it were out, the second I'd only buy if I really had the time and the money for a second/project computer.

1) 17" MBP with quadcore i7, 8gb ram, 512gb SSD, Hi-Res screen, and hopefully they'll put in a decent upgrade on the vidcard.

2) Super powered desktop (pick the parts of your ultimate comp) which would be my win 7 gaming/hackintosh lab. (All preaching about EULA's and piracy issues aside, for those who HAVEN'T done a Hackintosh it's a ton of fun, and you learn a helluvalot about your OS)

This is my realistic setup for about $2000 AUD:

13" mbp
320GB, 4GB Ram
2.66GHz C2D (current), or top end i3/i5 sb

or

15" mbp
320GB - 500GB, 4GB Ram
2.4GHz i5 (current), or low end i5/i7 sb (depending on price)

Mac Pro without a doubt. too expensive for me so i built a hackintosh, but wouldnt mind all that power, would put it to use! beautiful machine.

2x Xeons, 12GB RAM (enough for me), sandforce SSD boot drive, 3x 2TB hard drives for storage and backups, Radeon 5870, 2x 24" Dell Ultrasharps.

oh and an 11" MBA for the ultra portability or a 13" MB/MBP if i want the extras

nice thread idea

for me it would either be a combo of a 21.5 inch imac (desk isnt big enough for 27 inch:p) plus an ipad, prefferably second gen.

OR simply a macbook pro 13 inch as those machines are beautiful, and would suit my needs better than the above option, as well as cheaper. as for what id want for the refresh of MBPs, hehe i dont have any specific wants as the current lineups suit my needs perfect, though sandy bridge would be a nice bonus

also dreaming of a 27 inch ACD... ahh:D coupled with an 11 inch MBA...

AND, OSX LION!!! looks soo beautiful from the preview...

Would Love:

8 Core Mac Pro with dual SSD`s/16GB Ram and all the trimmings
Dual 27" Cinema Display`s

15" i7 MBP with 8GB Ram, 2x500GB SSD, HR Glossy display
(So, I like glossy,shoot me!)

I don`t need anything like this sort of power but this is a wishlist right?

Hmm...

iPhone 4 32GB WHITE:apple:
iPad 3G 64GB
13inch MacBook air 2.13ghz/4GB/256GB the ultimate
15inch MacBook Pro with i7/16GB of RAM/512GB SSD/Anti-glare
2x Cinema displays
Mac Pro 12 core with 32GB of RAm yeah just specced out to the max.

I would certainly have reason to have a home security system unlike 90% of Americans lmao..
