So I dropped my iPhone X today and the corner has some scuffs/dings that are now rough. I ran them back and forth rapidly with pressure over some heavy cloth which has smoothed them a tiny bit but I figured I’d ask if any of you had any other ideas for smoothing?

If the surgical stainless steel is indented or heavily scratched on the iPhone X bands, there really isn't much you can do. I would use caution to not apply to much pressure or rubbing, as that could distort the Stainless more. To help remove some of the finer scratches at least help blend it better, you could use a Cape Cod cloth.

You can try going to a good jewelry store and ask the tech if they could polish it out. They have the materials and equipment to do so. I got a deep scratch in a Rolex a few years back and they were able to make it look like new.
