I found a great thread here in MacRumors about another old DEC-20/Tops-20 game and thought I'd give this a try.

This was a war game, with armies and fleets, and you started off seeing only the small space adjacent to your pieces. You'd move, grow your forces somehow, and see bigger and bigger pieces of the puzzle.

If I'm not mistaken it was multi-player.

We played a game for hourrrrrs. So, with a little fear (for the lost time) and a lot of excitement ... can anyone identify that game? Would be great to find a way to run in on my macbookpro.

I think what you are looking for is a game called Empire. Probably the best strategy game I've ever played, or it might just be the nostalgia kicking in :D...

This site http://www.strategicdomination.com/ claims to have a something comparable, but I've not played it and can't comment...

Killer Bee Software has the current gen version from the 'Empire' family (not a knockoff). Unfortunately, it's Windows only...
