idvd help

Hi,
I am trying to play .avi movies in idvd and when i try to play them in both quicktime and idvd preview I hear only the sound and do not see the images of the movie itself. Does anyone know I fix to this? The avi movies won't play in quicktime either but will play with no problem in mplayer. I have installed divx extensions any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can't play AVI in iDVD. You can in QuickTime with an addon, but I don't believe they work in iDVD.

I think iMovie uses QuickTime, so if you install the Perian codec pack it may work fine. I know Perian allows me to watch AVIs in Front Row, so that wouldn't surprise me. If that doesn't do it, you're out of luck.
