Based on everything I have read around here, the better keyboard may be on the 2016 (seems a lot of people like it). It would be nice to see a poll on who prefers what keyboard (you can only answer it if you have have used the new keyboard for say at least a week).

Long term USB-C is the way to go, and the 2016 MBs will force the industry to build more cool dongles you can spend your money on ;). This is where all the exciting evolution will be, and you need to have a 2016 to be a part of it.

No I agree the new keyboard is faster to type and more accurate but it has less travel. So I guess that's the trade off

Someone *DID* make the computer the O/P describes. it's called the Razer Blade, and it's still VASTLY inferior to the MbP if only by the virtue of complete lack of quality control.

Despite your hopes to go back to single core processors and USB 1.0 ports. . the future continues to move on. Technology evolves, and those who do not EMBRACE technology are doomed to be REPLACED by it.

I wait for the complaints in a year or so when the USB-C ports are worn out (especially on the model with only two of them).

We already know the solution to keep them working though. . . BLOW IN THEM!

Because, honestly, the implementation is almost identical internally...

You may be waiting for a while. USB-C has already been around that long, and hasn't had trouble wearing out. It's rated for 10,000 insertions and removals, equalling or surpassing the ratings for earlier USB forms.

Now compare to the dozens of threads about worn out and broken USB-A ports over the years.
I am not saying USB-A is that good either, but it is different if needed for charging or not. Most people will plug/unplug the charger a lot more often than other devices that use USB-A port.
But indeed, maybe I am wrong and the USB-C will hold up just fine. In the meantime I hope that my 2013 and 2014 machines will last for many years to come.

True, though on the MBPs they can use two or four ports instead of just one.

Let's hope so!

As with all apple products happy for slightly thicker so battery would improve

I regularly have to work with the 2015 (or earlier) Macs as well and in comparison to the 2016 MBP the keys are much smaller and less stable, which makes the older keyboard a hassle to work with once one got used to the newer one. Not to mention that its easier on the fingers and also allows for quicker typing.
It's personal preference , I have both and I type faster on the older keyboard. Actually across all the KBs I have, the new one is is not in the top 5.

Yes. Thinness means nothing to me, nor do a few grams of weight. Apple has long since reached the point of diminishing return when it comes to laptop size and weight: Now they're simply sacrificing performance and ergonomics for barely noticeable "improvements".

I've had an Apple laptop of some sort for almost 20 years now, but that will change if they don't do something about the keyboard situation. I also dislike the giant track pad. I really do hope they can sort things out, as I don't want to use anything other than an Apple, however at this point I'm not very optimistic.

Personally no.

And they won't do it unless hell freezes over. This MBP form factor is going to be here for the foreseeable future which is why they've gone all-in on USB-C.

They're never going to produce a laptop which is 100% perfect for everybody's use-case, so they aim for the majority. Forums due to their very nature will always highlight people who are unhappy with new products or have problems, but there's a lot of owners of MBPs who are very happy with the new machines.

Everybody wants something different from their laptop, personally I find apples offerings to be a perfect blend of power portability and battery life, if that is not the case for you then buy something else it's not rocket science.

No. The keyboard is probably my favourite feature of my new tbMBP 13'' . A few more ports would have been nice (HDMI and SD mainly) but I can live without them.

Nah, getting used to the keyboard and lack of ports, it really isn't a problem. Even with my MBA 2013 I had to carry around an HDMI adapter, NIC adapter, and VGA adapter. ...
Yup. And I remember the dongles and adapters I used with my 2007 MBP (ExpressCard multi-reader, display cable for my TV in my pre-AppleTV days, etc etc), or my white iBook, or my blueberry RevA iBook...

I mean, come on, it's not like there hasn't been dongles and adapters before. Remember when we needed to plug in an anti-piracy dongle into a desktop Mac just to run an application?

So, for the OP's question, my answer:
Nope.

Now they're simply sacrificing performance and ergonomics for barely noticeable "improvements".

I am very surprised that this myth of "sacrificed performance" is still this prevalent. There was no sacrifice in performance whatsoever. The 2016 MBP contains exactly same class of components as the 2015 MBP, the 2013 MBP or the 2011 MBP. And if they have retained the size of the 2015 models, the performance would be exactly the same, because they still wouldn't be able to fit a 80 Watt GPU (and faster CPUs simply don't exist). What you get with the 2016 model is the same performance in a more mobile package. It hilarious how people complain about this as if it was a bad thing.

I wouldn't want to go back, now that I've had my 2016 for almost three weeks. Having said that, I probably would not have bought this machine if I coulda just got a larger SSD to stick in my 2012 rMBP and that would've made me miss out on the new one, even if it would've saved me some big bucks!

Hell Yes, I would be interested. It seems the trend for laptop companies these days is to give you less and charge you more.

Comfort! The new one makes my fingers tired. The old one never does.

I find that most changes in a keyboard is initially going to cause some fatigue. I think this is partly due to the changes in the mechanics of finger movement and muscle use, that just requires several days or weeks to adapt to. The differences between the two now seem very minor to me compared to the difference between laptops keyboards in-general versus quality mechanical keyboards.

I'd get one in a heartbeat if it had a sensible keyboard with key travel and function keys, although that's exactly what 2015 is for me.

Fatigue from a tiny difference in keyboard travel? Not likely. But we now have keys that don't wobble and feel precise.

Once you get used to the new keyboard, it's fantastic. The human hand is pretty adaptable, but if you are intent on NOT adapting, I expect you can overcome that. Most users appear to like the new keyboard or not care.

Apple sacrificed something to make this laptop thin? What would that be? Right now I'm on the 15" with 81% and 7:52 remaining on the battery, so no problem there at all. This machine is faster than my 15" rMBP, has a better screen, better speakers, touch bar, fantastic track pad...where exactly is this sacrifice?

I'd like the 2018 or 2019 model to be lighter, even better screen, brighter touch bar, maybe a bit smaller on the 15" (I think they can shave off another 1/4 inch overall) and 4 lbs is a bit heavy. Bring back the SD slot for flush flash storage. Make the power brick an interface station with legacy ports. And bring back the McDLT hamburger.

I haven't noticed this trend from any company, least of all Apple. The new MBPs are improved over the previous models in a dozen ways, including entirely new features. The price for comparable 15" models rose $100.
