I was reminiscing about old macs today, and fondly remembered the mac IIfx from back in the early 90's. That machine had a $9k starting price, but it was the de-facto choice for every graphics artist back then. What would a new flagship look like, if Apple made one?

Core 2 Duo 1.6ghz, 1Gb Ram and a 5400 128gb spinner.
...but in rose gold. ;)

Seriously, though, the specs for the dream Apple pro are already online. Someone just needs to slap some sense into the cuatro amigos.

And, BTW, the only Apple computer that I've ever had on my desk was a IIfx. It wasn't mine, it was loaned to me by a Nobel prize winner so that I could help him set up some analytics programs.

And don't forget that Apple already has a $10K flagship model....

Unfortunately, it's three to four year old hardware for $10K.

busted link?
or just on my end?
It's a JPEG screen capture image uploaded to MacRumours - not an external link. (https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/trashcanpro-jpg.671616/)

I tried it from an independent session (on a VPN link through work) and saw the linked image.

Let me know if you can't see it.

Edit:

So sorry, I did two links, and the first was bogus. The "Apple Pro Dream" machine specs are at http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/getpdf.aspx/4AA6-4212ENUC . (link to PDF on the HP Z840 website)

Edit: Confusion between an external link to the Z840, and an embedded image for the $10K option for the MP6,1.

are xeons slowing down or are the newer ones running same/faster at lower GHz rating?

(and the link in the earlier post is now working. thx)

I'd be more interested to know who would pay that price? I am assuming a professional. For that price it should include FCP, Logic, Photoshop suite, or some other pro app.

$10K?
Let's see.
If Apple buys MS, HP and Sony...
A flagship package.
A Surface Studio, 17" 4K, 64GB, Quadro M5000 HP Zbook and a Sony A6500.

Gore knows why chads hang there.
that's why he conceded to bush the night of the elections.. he knew the electoral college went republican.

all that other crap afterwards was to keep the population feeling like their votes actually mean something in a u.s presidential 'election'.. they dragged it out long enough (ie- not very long ;) ) until everybody quits wondering why bush is the president even though more americans voted for gore.

i really don't think they'd consider the watch as their flagship. and it's a marketing term to begin with.
customers don't decide what a flagship is. the companies do.

i get it that you're being funny with the watch thing.. but just making sure you're not believing the lulz
