Nope, I can enjoy their products but not believe in their belief system.

For instance, I am almost certain that Steve Jobs was a liberal democrat, and I am a conservative republican. Doesn't mean I am going to not buy Apple products or even become a democrat. It's just two separate things.

No. I admire and like the products (for they are an elegant fusion of form and function) but I find myself profoundly allergic to almost all forms of organised religion.

I'd join if it was a cult. But otherwise I'll stick to no religion.

You want to join a cult!!??

Jeez, if you're looking for a cult to to join, there are plenty out there. Then all you have to do is give up your possessions, your friends, your family, and your willingness and ability to think for yourself.

Come to think of it - that last part sounds a lot like religion, too. ;)

I was going to reply to say "what do you mean, if" but I see I've been beaten to it by many people.

Lots of anti-religion people in this thread (and, well, everywhere these days) which I think is telling. For most religions I think it's the zany behaviour of many of the followers that causes people to get turned off. And I think it's no different with Apple "followers".

I consider myself spiritual, but I am not mindlessly religious.

Bit of a contradiction, since I'm on an Apple enthusiasts forum, but I literally can't stand talking about Apple products to people. People tend to come out with the cheesiest remarks, and some fanboyism makes me sick.

I think if Apple were to be a religion, I'd consider becoming a "insert PC term here" extremist..

Lol. Yes. It does.

What the hell? Dumbest idea I've heard in a very long time.

----------

Most religions start as cults.

And judging from some posts I see around here, Apple is already a religion with quite a few followers. Some folks around here scare me with their love/obsession with Apple.

Like that weirdo chick with the Apple tattoo? What the hell is wrong with people?

Consumerism has produced some interesting results, to say the least.

Or the people around here who could be shown first hand evidence of Apple leadership doing something like, say kicking puppies for fun, and would find a way to defend it. People who think that anything made by Apple is absolutely perfect and flawless, as if magically produced by the Lady of the Lake herself, just like Excalibur. And anything made by any competitor is obviously the spawn of Satan

Just based upon the days long grief and tears expressed by some posters over a man they never met--I would say that at least those people would be *susceptible* to a cultish religion around Steve Jobs. Needless to say, I think Jobs would be completely against a religion based upon him. He would consider it, "living with the results of someone else's thinking". There you go, the first quote from the Book of Jobs.
