People would be ecstatic. They could have taken away half the software updates and bumped the phone to a 3.7, and there would be exponentially more excitement for the phone. Once in a while a company does something that is so obviously not in line with consumer interests, the whole world shakes their heads, dumbfounded.

I have a feeling this will be on a future documentary on CNBC about companies that fell from the top due to obvious stupid mistakes. Tim Cook "Well, we underestimated people’s desire for big screens. We were sure that people wanted the smaller screen. We totally missed the mark".

0.2" is a useless increase. If they're bumping the size they may as well do it right and go half an inch.

As much as I was looking forward to a redesign, .2in is nothing. It might make you feel better seeing 3.7 vs. 3.5, but it really doesn't make a **** of difference.

Moar screen resolution > 0.2inch increase... 1280x850 screen resolution from 960x640? Awww yeahhhhh.... that would have been sick what what ever. Makes me less jealous of the new iPhone haha.

If you want a bigger screen, get an iPad. For something you put in your pocket, the current screen is perfect. You should just be able to pull it out and do what you have to do.

.2" would have done nothing to make consumers happy. It's a pretty small difference from 3.5" to 3.7".

You would have needed to bump the screen up to 4" to make most consumers happy.

Whatever. It's over with now. If you want a larger screen go Android. I'm disappointed just like most others but it's honestly stupid to complain post-keynote. We will get that redesign next year.

If you look at the history of iPhone hardware, it seems the pattern is introduce new hardware form. Use that for 2 product cycles. The 2nd cycle beef up the specs.

I wasn't surprised by no iPhone 5. I never expected it based on Apple's previous history.

I don't understand the big screen fetishism. They're not going to change the number of pixels because of software compatibility, so if you enlarge the screen enough to make a difference, then you make the display less sharp, eat battery life faster, and make the phone bigger in the pocket. It's not worth it.

.2 might not be very much, but people would still say in their minds "Bigger screen". Theres plenty of bezel available in the current design to allow for more screen without any change to physical size.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

Small? Since when is it small, a year ago hardly anyone complained...

Look if you really want a bigger screen get a new phone because clearly 3.5" doesn't satisfy your needs

I will say this after having a 4.3in screen for the past 2-3days, it's nice not having to pinch to zoom on every webpage in order to read it.
