In-hand, I love the 12 Mini. But battery seems to be about an hour or so less in real-use.

Just curious: IF the battery life was somehow identical between the 12 and 12 Mini, which would YOU go with?

I would have been fine with smaller battery on my mini.

Apart from the battery life and defects this season, Mini is what Jobs wanted iPhone to be in his head.

mini ! the phone is perfect size , perfect screen size , perfect camera , performance
the battery is downside

Yeah, even as I'm now entering my upper 40's and my eyes are starting to struggle, I'd rather throw on a pair of readers than carry around a massive Max screen. Portability and pocketability along with easier 1-handed typing is priority for me.
Smaller the phone smaller the keyboard, so there goes that theory.

What do you mean with respect to the keyboard? Slightly smaller keys yes, but unless you mean more fat-finger errors, I think the MIni is easier to type with just one hand.

"Regular" 12 is great too though. The new design with the 5-like flat edges makes it noticeably narrower and easier compared to the phones since 6.

The Mini hands-down. As long as the battery lasts for a typical day's usage (which it certainly will in my case), I'm good to go.
Currently using iPhone 8 and typically get 1.5 to 2 days unless i'm out traveling.

If I had gone non-Pro, it would’ve been Mini all the way. (Still could be, as I still haven’t fully adjusted to the size and weight of this thing.)

Using my 12 Mini exclusively the past 5 days instead of my 12 regular. Still like it more (aside from battery). Using it though with LTE and no 5G since LTE is faster in most spots for me. May even pass the "regular" to my son as an upgrade from his XR. But not just yet :)
