the exact, EXACT, same thing happened to me a few weeks ago on my powerbook, check out the thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/114572/ . i don't know what caused it, but again, was while working with video. anyway, hope your problem gets solved! :)
He-he, haven't seen that one... funny that both was solved by renaming the finder.plist... seems like the same problem, yes... :)

Lol, kwajo (now that it's over) I think it's pretty funny we both had the same problem - people always say "search, there's like a million topics about this", but I never believed I'd find one with my (seemingly rare) occurence, so I just posted. Funny that our titles were similar too ("Finder gone nuts"). And that we were both working with video. Anyways, to me it's just further proof I should Erase and Install for Tiger - operating systems and video editing do not seem to last too long together with each other in my experience.
And Place of Dis, don't worry about ultimately not solving anything - you're being the first to reply was very comforting, and gave me something to do while I was scared out of my mind.

Kwajo, just curious, but have you encountered anything else odd since you deleted the prefs?

I'm afraid the Finder's just started the cycle all over again, again while I was working in Final Cut. At least now I know what to do... I'm really starting to look forward to my Tiger Erase and Install though.

No I did not, but thank you for the suggestion - the obvious escaped me, lol. Will surely save some time if this is a continuing cycle.
