Things will get outdated eventually. There will always be new bells and whistles to come that you won't have.

Will it last? That's another question. In my experience macs still work long after they are way too outdated. So lasting is not really an issue.

Usually Apple has 2 or less updates a year. No major difference is noticeable unless computers are 4 or more generations apart. Even then the difference is not HUGE, unless its a big change like PPC -> Intel.

This is why I buy new computers each 3-4 years.

If I buy a macbook in a month, will it be obsolete and outdated in a year? What does apple usually do to update their macbooks?(ram, processor, etc)

Yes of course it will eventually. So what you do is buy the best, top of the line that you can afford to make your computer stay up to date the most it can. This way you can last longer with that Mac like adding more ram, etc... and thereby prolonging the eventual out of date mac scene. Usually people buy computers every 3-5 years, and some of us even sooner. The more powerful it is and fully loaded it is , the longer it will last before you have to upgrade or replace the Mac.
