I‘ll wait until November 10th. Then I cancel and wait for September 2018.
I even considered waiting for quality issues, but if I do not order on October 27th, I probably have to wait much longer.
So ... probably ordering and assuming to skip the 8 and X altogether.

It's possible that Apple may not have ANY for walk in sales.

And even if that wasn't the case, if you wait until launch day to wait in line, you're not getting any.

Let’s face it, it is. If people only cared about the true meaning of Christmas the Western economy would probably fall apart. Christmas is an industry as much as it is a holiday.

Assuming they allow any waiting in line at all. Some Apple stores in my area had 0 standby stock for 8/8Plus. Pre-order or nothing.

If you don't order preorder on the 27th, you will have an extensive wait, guaranteed. Like early 2018 at the earliest without preordering.

Yes, I agree. I'll try anyways, but have little hope in Apple this year.
The only time I had to really wait for a delayed Apple product was the first Watch and surprisingly the iPad 3.
Which was the first Retina iPad.

I will not do that. I will wait fo the next phone.
BTW, skipped every 2016/17 MacBook as well because of quality issues.
(Keyboard, Screen, saw it first hand.)
