Is the new, largest phone going to be bigger than that, or around the same size?

I like the size of my 8+ and didn’t go for the X mainly because of the size.

I’m thinking if I decide to upgrade I’ll go with the 6.5”, but wonder how that size will compare to what I have now.

Leaked photos and videos of the iPhone X(S) Plus dummy unit (along side the next iPhone X and 5.8" LCD iPhone) have been circulating the web for over a month. If we're to believe that the dummy unit is real, than the 8 Plus and X Plus seem to be about the same size.

iPhone 8 Plus is a 5.8" display.

iPhone XS Plus (or whatever it's going to be called) is a 6.5" display. And it's OLED. Huge difference.

No one here knows. Just guesses. But it's very likely that the next X plus phone will have very similar dimensions to the 8+ but do away with the large bezels top & bottom. Screens are measured diagonally, so if you include all that bezel space that's currently on the 8+, you'll get a 6.5"screen (roughly) but the phone itself will be about the same size (within a couple millimeters).

Do you guys think you’ll be up for Wielding a device that’s plus size and all screen?

Even 5.5” at that aspect ratio had me struggling at times, as cool as a big screen is

Having an 8+, I was psyched up for the new X this year as I get tired of such a big phone. But the more I think about it, I'm thinking I'd be happier with the X+. I do love the screen size and the battery life as well.

Thanks! I know the measurements are screen sizes, so I just wasn’t sure how they’d compare overall. I’m so used to the size of my phone (I went + starting with the 6, so I’ve had this size quite a while), that I’ve been worried about changing because of having something smaller.

On the one hand, I guess it might be nice to have a smaller phone again, and still have the screen size, but OTOH, I’m so used to this form factor I don’t think I wanna give it up.

I was glad to see this thread because I've been wondering the same thing. I thought my 7 Plus wouldn't be pocketable when I bought it, but I have enjoyed the extra screen size. That said, I frequently run into situations where I'm forced to use it with one hand and find it somewhat unwieldy. I'm still wondering what a device that size but with an edge-to-edge display will feel like in practice.

That’s true. I have trouble reaching that upper left corner with my thumb. ;-p

That may actually wind up being a dealbreaker. I wasn’t thinking about how much farther that corner might be.

Maybe I need to go in the store and actually play with the X a bit before I make a final decision. The pluses just always have some slightly better something (camera, battery life, something), and it’ll annoy me if I know it’s out there and I don’t have it. ;-p

This. That's usually the best way, get the feel of it first. I'm torn myself this year, the things I love about my 8+ are the things I hate about my 8+. Lol.

Nearly identical in size, only slightly narrower than the 8 Plus.

Thanks for the video link. So, no concerns on the pocketability front; I just have to decide whether the giant screen would be worth the tradeoff of often (probably) needing two hands to use my phone.

There’s no reason not to upgrade if a person is interested in the new device and has the funds. I have the 8 Plus. I upgrade every year. I didn’t want the X because for me it’s too small. But if the rumored ‘X+’ is a 6.5” OLED beauty with the typical incremental upgrades, I’m all in. After using the same design for four years straight I’m looking forward to a refresh.

My exact thoughts. The iPhone 5.8 X is great, but my first exact thoughts were that it’s too small my hands. The 6.5 iPhone X will be what I’m looking for in terms of size and having the extra view-ability with the larger display is always an advantage.

Keep your 8+. No need to upgrade. iOS 12/13 will run like butter on it. :apple:

I have certainly considered this option. The only reason I didn’t choose the X last year was because of the size, so I have really been excited about the prospect of the X+

Of course, I am one of those who really LIKES the home button, and isn’t too keen on the Face ID idea, so that’s another issue I need to overcome.

If the video is a fairly accurate representation though, I think I’d love the size of the X+

I understand. I'm unable to leave the home button yet. It's just a much better solution for the way I use my device. I might consider Face ID if it works in portrait mode. If you have the means then you should get what you feel you need. I just can't fathom paying $1350 for a Cell Phone with Smart Features. An iPhone is no Pocket Mac. But that's just me.

I'm going to try and get 24 more months out of my 8+ and hope for a dual solution in 2019/2020 Face ID and an Under Glass Reader. My 8+ will run like a Ferrari on iOS 12. I'm mildly confident it will happen despite all the opinions that it is dead. If not I'll have to make a big decision. Either way I hope you enjoy you're new device. ;)
