If I download Lion, do I have to install it immediately?

I bought an iMac late last month and I would like to claim my free copy of Lion before the deadline. However, I'd like to wait awhile before upgrading to Lion. I'm happy with Snow Leopard and I have a few Rosetta apps that I'd like to find replacements for before I make the leap. If I download Lion, does it automatically begin installing? Is it possible to download it now and install it later?

Just quit the installer when it pops up. No need to upgrade after the download.

The Lion download will be in your Library/Application Support/App Store (or somewhere thereabouts).

It gets moved to your Applications folder after download.

Just remember it gets deleted after you do the upgrade so save the file to a disc.
