good question, I think not, they really have no incentive to unlock it for you. If you're under contract then they will kindly tell you hell no. If you don't have a contract or service with AT&T they will ask you to sign up. But you can probably just put a sim card in there since it is most likely unlocked in the first place.

No, you have to call 611 from your AT&T phone or (800) 331-0500 from any other phone.

You need an existing or former AT&T account without an outstanding balance (bill due is not outstanding). If you have neither, AT&T will not help you.

That said an unlock is $5 on ebay right now.
