I just called a friend and asked him to try it out as well and guess what, it worked. Your post basically explains everything. I really would like to know now what happens if you don't have apple care.

No one knows; everyone who's tried to download a torrent without AppleCare has "disappeared." I have an idea, but it involves theoretical physics and is dependent on a modified version of string theory.

Thank god I still have 2 more years, I don't know what I would do without transmission.

I am sure someone said this before but torrents aren't illegal. The content you choose to download could be. With that said, feel free to download whatever you wish. I use torrents a lot to download large files that are legal. Sometimes I ask for permission from the holder of this document (note I said documents because asking for permission to download a movie is downright stupid).

To answer your question: No, it is not against the contract to use torrents. They would anyways not search my computer for it and even if they do, I have nothing to hide besides password protected bank documents.
