If I were to install the beta of iPadOS 16, does it convert to the released version when it is officially released?

Not automatically but you will receive the release candidate about a week before which is usually identical to the final version.

However you will then keep receiving beta versions (16.0.1, 16.1 etc.) until you remove the beta profile from your iPad, at which point you will receive the next official public release.

I guess I just have to decide if I want iPadOS 16 now or when it is officially released.

What did you think of it? I’m considering doing the same.

Honestly, not sure how much like I like it, but it takes getting used to. I use and like the Windows multi-windowing experience, so I'm biased to at least some degree. Plus, it's still a little buggy and a lot of applications haven't been adapted to it yet. But it is very nice to get the monitor support. I really need to use it more to adjust to the change. I haven't had any problems with the beta so it's worth giving it a shot for your own evaluation.

Maybe I will wait then unless the pawn shop near me still has the iPad air m1 available tomorrow afternoon when I can get there. On the other hand, maybe I should just keep my 10.5 iPad Pro since it has the 256gb storage and I think that iPad Air m1 only has 64gb, but also only $400.00

I agree with @rui no onna. If you don't have an M1 iPad to try out Stage Manager... then it's pointless giving it a go. I would suggest waiting for official release.

I install betas on non-production iPads for checking for bugs and app compatibility.

To me, the beta period gives me adequate/more time to determine whether I should update or not. If I wait for the official release, I run the risk of being unable to downgrade once Apple stops signing older versions.
