Okay i have a ipad air 2 and less then a year old. No i do not have apple care and i want to replace the glass. It started out with a slight scratch and like a windshield glass it just spread to where its clearly able to be seen but the Ipad works great.

So i set up a appointment for Saturday to go in and get a quote. They said on the phone they start around 110$

Here is my question. I just remembered it is jailbroken so i can use a few programs. Will they still fix the glass at the apple store? if not i guess i would have to un jailbreak it then re jailbreak it. But the Jailbreak has nothing to do with the screen i just want them to replace it but will they give me a hard time about it being Jailbroke

thanks.

Well, a friend of mine.. who was jailbroken.. her screen shattered. She had to have it sent in... but they sent her a replacement. It took about 3 days.

She could have gotten a replacement in store at the time.. but they didn't have any in stock.

Yeah but i do not have apple care so no warranty on it i would have to pay

they don't replace glass on any iPads, they replace the whole thing. you will be charged if its due to damage.

Yes well either way not caring about the charge i just want to know if they will still do it if the Ipad is Jailbroken as they have no need to check the apps etc as all i have is 1 extra program i use with the jailbrake

You can go ahead back up the iPad and restore it to factory... Regardless you getting a replacement. They are not fixing it..

YMMV but either way, they aren't giving you the same iPad back. You might as well unJB it to be on the safe side.

I would install Cydia Impactor from the Cydia store and read the instructions and then run it to completely remove the jailbreak. It will wipe everything off the iPad so make sure you do a backup first.

Two things to help you out..
1. Apple does not replace screens on iPads or iPods, you will get swapped a remanufactured unit at a price for physical/Cosmetic "damage".

2. Apple will most likely deny service of the iPad swapped, until you factory restore the product. You technician is just going to recommend removing the JB, before they service the iPad. You're looking at a few hundred bucks to get a new one FYI..

According to my BF who is an in store tech they only care about jailbreaks if its a functional issue. Like bad reception or freezing, things that could be caused by the jailbreak. Since a damaged screen can't be caused by screwing with your software you're fine

if it was a phone it would be different since they can replace just the screen and the jailbreak would likely cause it to fail calibration just like iOS 9 would before it was officially released and the system was updated to support it
