If someone had messed up and, as a means to make it up and not lose business from a good customer, told you to go on Apple's website and take a look at the software, memory, hard drive, or even devices (that are in a price range comparable to the items I just listed) what would you pick?

I am willing to ask for something pretty good here because this was a pretty decent sized mess-up, but I certainly don't want to go overboard here or ask for something way too much that they become resistant. Throw some stuff out there, I am trying to get this done in the next day or so.

considering the iPhone isn't out yet, id take a fully loaded MBP (15 inch) or a base MBP 17 inch even.

Ooo! Oh!

3.0GHz Quad-Core Mac Pro with 16GB RAM, QuadroFX graphics, 3TB hard drive space, two 30" Cinema Displays, quad-channel fiber card, Aperture, and a USB modem! :D

....I certainly don't want to go overboard here or ask for something way too much...

Oh, don't go overboard...is an $18,673 computer really overboard?

Go for the gusto
Mac Pro 3ghz, 16gig ram, 3.5 tera HDD, best video card, airport & bluetooth, and two 30'' displays.

if they dont like that settle for like a paltry 14gig ram on the model:) :)

me, I'd just take a mbp pro 15 max'd with a 30 incher:) :) :) :) :)

I would love apple forever for that---------^

I don't know if the previous posters neglected to read this from the OP but here it is again:

To me, that says a budget of about $200 or so.

Personally? I think I'd ask for the equivalent amount in an Apple gift card. Then wait 'til Adobe CS3 came out and put it towards that. But that's just me. :p

Have you seen the price of some of Apple's software though! He could get a couple of MacBooks...

Umm, but yes, some software is in the sub $200 price range, which is also where RAM price is usually at, too. I think it's safer to assume that the budget is closer to that than to $5,000.

I don't know if there's anything out there right now that would be worth settling for. I'd say get a gift card for $200-400 (whatever you feel is justified). When Apple releases the 6G iPod and/or Leopard, you can cash in.

iPhone or :apple: tv or... puurrrr
Mac Pro 2.6ghz 750gb x4 16GB RAM Fibre and Wifi Bluetooth HDDVD Burners, Final Cut Studio with Logic and Aperture. Plus Apple remote desktop, 3yrs of applecare, FW800 with a RAID box for it and an Xserve RAID connected via FIBRE oh damn (drool) dual 30" Cinema Displays, wireless keyboard and mighty mouse. Prolly add Office just cause, and After Effects and Maya with Photoshop. I wouldnt need a new mac for 5 yrs! hrm add a midi keyboard (one from apple's site) and im gold.

Put the iPhone :apple:tv and Mac Pro together and I will never ask for anything again

Anything from Apple for Free

I'll take a copy of AppleWorks 7 - Mac and PC versions - uncrippled, please. Thanks, Apple.

A copy of Steve Jobs' ID badge and a master key to all buildings on Cupertino campus

EDIT: Darn, they do not have that on the website :)

I'd take a max-ed out Mac Pro :D :apple:

EDIT:

So I could sell it, then buy a 15" MBP, a 30" ACD and keep the rest :D

Uh... how about for 25 years?

Free if it existed 8 core mac pro 30" acd (yes acd exists, 8 core does not).
Free in existence quad mac pro 30" acd. And a mighty mouse...gotta have something to complain about.

Quite obviously, if it existed, the 'Unlimited' Apple Store Card. Works just like a credit card, except I won't be then one paying for everything. :D

Otherwise I would probably go for a MBP:
MacBook Pro 15-inch Widescreen Display
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
3GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x2GB, 1x1GB
200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 4200 rpm

And if possible, a 30" Display to go with it. Then.... :p

I am with Devilot, I think the original poster meant under $500. So no computers.

I would probably take an airport express and/or and airport extreme. Or possibly and iPod but I already have one and don't need another.
