I am with Devilot, I think the original poster meant under $500. So no computers.

I would probably take an airport express and/or and airport extreme. Or possibly and iPod but I already have one and don't need another.

Oh dang then...just a new pair of ear buds then. Thanks.

I don't know if the previous posters neglected to read this from the OP but here it is again: To me, that says a budget of about $200 or so.

Thank you, and thank you! I don't understand why people on here just start to balbber without reading. While I always appreciate people responding to posts, I mean come on 65% of the posts on this thread are just so off the mark, how hard is it to read a few lines of text...

In regards to price range I think the $200 - $500 range is dead on correct. And, to those who might have wondered or doubted, this is not a hypothetical.

Definitely an iPhone :)

You didn't ask for advice. So people are just sharing their wishful thoughts. That is what is making this thread interesting. It's not all about you, you know :) :D

BTW, if you wanted advice, you should have mentioned that in the title.

i'd really want a $200 itunes gift card, but i doubt apple would be willing to give that. so i'd opt for an airport extreme base station.

If someone had messed up and, as a means to make it up and not lose business from a good customer, told you to go on Apple's website and take a look at the software, memory, hard drive, or even devices (that are in a price range comparable to the items I just listed) what would you pick?

I am willing to ask for something pretty good here because this was a pretty decent sized mess-up, but I certainly don't want to go overboard here or ask for something way too much that they become resistant. Throw some stuff out there, I am trying to get this done in the next day or so.

You must seriously be kidding me! The mere lure of the title, which is text length constrained remember, was so overwhelming to you and the other people on here that you could not cognize the less then 10 lines of text that pretty clearly spell out exactly what the advice I was that i was seeking on here? Wow, I mean seriously

Interesting! I don't recall ever mentioning what company was offering this to me.....;) :apple:

I'd get........ aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

Apple FireWire Cable Kit (6 to 6 pin - 0.5m/19 inches)

:D

The Stig

maybe 1 single song from itunes...

Here's a couple of options

Airport Exertme looks interesting for the ability to plug in USB drives if you work mainly on laptops (for backups, movie storage etc). Not needing to plug anything in could make life easier.

An iPod.

Aperture if you work on photos

If you have something in mind, but it's too expensive, a gift card sounds like a good idea.

Personally I'd go for the Airport Extreme.

If I could get 'anything' from Apple. I'd like Steve Jobs bank account :D

Just remember to specify to include current funds... else they can just clean it out before they give it to you.

As for the what i'd want, I'm not greedy... i'd go for a MacBook Pro 15" (when leopard is released and it is based on the santa rosa platform) with every single upgrade they have.

I would say an iPod (cheaper one), and iPod nano if they don't go for the reg. iPod, or a hard drive of some sort.

I would guess you would have a better chance of getting more value if you asked for an Apple branded item though as their cost would be less.

Some options:

[1] iPod Hi-Fi
[2] Airport Extreme
[3] :apple:TV
[4] some iPod
[5] good headphones
[6] Aperture
[7] iTunes Gift Card
[8] Apple Gift Card
[9] AppleCare for your current Mac [if applicable]

Good luck, and let us know what happens.:)

I had the unfortunate position of Office Depot trying to make something up to me - their idea of a payment for my time/suffering WAY differed from mine. Here is hoping they are talking in the $200-500 range.

Me? I had my chair break, hit my head with a mild concussion (in hindsight - i never went to the ER like I should have), bruised my back nice and deep.

$75.

Yup, they sent me $75.

Never mind the assistant manager tried to cover it up, i had to talk to multiple people at Corporate - have this lady from the chair manufactures insurance company bugging me.

So, personally, i'd either ask for a 3 gb kit for a MBP, or a 1tb My Book Pro drive.

Depends what you actually need eg. Airport, 1gb RAM etc. If nothing, get a iPod Nano. Ebay it or give it to someone special.

Its a gesture of good will after all. Ask for too much and they'll laugh at you.

As per your title, if it were me, I'd wait until iSuite '07 stuff and leopard came out, and then get those for free. Or if you have to go for something now, I'd get a 2 gig ram stick for my MBP.

Thank you, and thank you! I don't understand why people on here just start to balbber without reading.

Well, personally, it was because I didn't think you wanted to hear my real answer, which would have been:

Just forgive them.

Why do we expect to be rewarded every time someone makes a mistake? Don't we all make mistakes at our jobs?

Forgive them and move on with your life. If they've been kind, continue to give them your business. If not, don't. But don't expect to be rewarded.

Better?

:)

If something had really messed up with my order, my dream 'sorry from Apple' would be free Apple Care with Pro Care, for life :D

Wouldn't ask for any hardware, even 20-grand Mac Pro, if I could get that free for life. :p

Just my 2 pence

I don't know if the previous posters neglected to read this from the OP but here it is again: To me, that says a budget of about $200 or so.

Personally? I think I'd ask for the equivalent amount in an Apple gift card. Then wait 'til Adobe CS3 came out and put it towards that. But that's just me. :p

Agreed. I would take a gift card of an appropriate amount also (since the OP seems to be looking for REAL ideas) and then use it toward something that would be beneficial to you when it is released.
