I'm glad there weren't any firearms within reach while I was watching that movie. Especially the end. wow.

Ok microsoft I am utterly confused.
Can someone explain WHY THEY ARE USING A MBP you can even see the power cable in the board room...
Sometimes marketing departments are - well STUPID

That poor MBP has to live with the scars of Songsmith and flower stickers forever.

Don

Oh god, I think I threw up a little in my mouth watching this video...
But I love how they use a MBP. That tells you something if this is a legit M$ Promo.

Because Microsoft doesn't make hardware, they make software, and that software can run on a MacBook Pro?

Seriously?

Ok Apple is their main competitor,
It is counter productive to use something people may recognise.
In fairness it is well disguised however I still believe it was a negative choice.

That video was terrible. Statement I'll regret in five...four...three...two...

So, software that can extract a melody from your singing and generate a backing track (and better yet, also if you were to play an instrument and it did the same thing for you) is a really great concept. I'm impressed that it works as well as it does.

Now, if someone can make one that doesn't give you that god-awful music in the background, great concept. Add support for playing an instrument to develop the melody, and a cheap clone of auto-tune, and it could be a really amazing tool for people learning to make music.

Or, ahem, is the music just so bad because it was made on a computer with pastel flowers stuck all over it?

That's sadder than the MacBook with the click-wheel, except one of those was a creation by The Onion and the other is f#%@ing REAL.

I suffered through that in HD. I want my 4 minutes back.

I LOVE the MacBook with a flower sticker over the Apple logo.

I'm still laughing over the MBP. I mean, you can see the apple sticking out from under one of the flower stickers and the things are pretty damned recognisable. To be fair, it's probably the advertising agency's laptop, but it would be hilarious if it belonged to someone involved in Microsoft.

Seems like a pretty cool app if it works well. Microsoft Research has always had interesting projects going.

Well, it might be fun to play around with that application, if one has got a lot of spare time. But what I sincerely don't understand is why MS makes that app so incredibly ugly and why they come up with that annoying advertisment video. Are the High School Musical addicts the target market for Songsmith?

Wait, I have to stop now. It makes me so sad thinking about all that stuff.
