i hate to say this but WinPwn LOOKS like it is fairly straight forward but nothing works. i'm hardly computer illiterate; have built two computers, know a bit of web programming, etc. But i have worked literally all day to get WinPwn to work and it will not.

Using 2g iPhone, firmware 2.0.2 (now after restoring), and neither QuickPwn will be recognized by iTunes, nor will the full Pwning actually work without crashing. Has anyone had any luck with another other Windows based program? i've uninstalled and reinstalled WinPwn even and it is just not working.

Pwnage Tool. They make both a Windows and OS X version.

There's no official PwnageTool for Windows.

Use Quickpwn. It is exactly that.

I've never had an issue with it.

What version of iTunes are you using? The error seems to indicate that the driver used to access the phone is not supported by your pwnage software version. You may need to up/downgrade.

I'd suggest you upgrade to the latest firmware, the latest iTunes, and the latest QuickPwn.

    Then it all works fine.

I guess right now you have mismatches of the versions and therefore the various drivers and databases.

This is the tutorial to follow:

Well the latest firmware is not supported by WinPWN so i am using version 2.0.2 and the new iTunes which is 8.1 or something like that.

Ah, i downloaded QuickPWN as a separate program (i was running it before from WinPWN). The separate program (possibly a totally different program with the same name), works GREAT! Thanks!

Yeah it doesn't really get much easier than Quickpwn. JB'ing on a Mac is a different story. I've never been able to successfully do it.

are you kidding jailbreaking on a mac is a MILLION times easier. i have NEVER had a problem.. using quick pwn and Pwnage Tool.. i think jailbreaking on a PC was actually harder.. cause even though you download quickpwn you have to find and download the custom firmware on a pc.

mac it finds its and automatically downloads it for you
