Sales are down 27% causing Apples stock to crash, sure it’s a terrible Phone, heck Apple didn’t even compare it to the 15 Pro Max. And sales are bad. So is Apple causing a shortage ?

I don't believe there is a real way of knowing as a lot of the "data" comes from chain supply analyst but unless you work for Apple in a logistics sense I doubt you would know the real numbers. Not knowing how many actual phones were manufactured vs allotments around the world can all dictate availability. Unlike Rolex, who is widely known to have more stock than available to create superficial supply/demand, I don't think anyone can accuse Apple of this. At the end of the day does it really matter? It's all speculation.

But it’s a Publically traded company with investor. shouldn’t accurate data be mandatory ?
if not Apple could be manipulating the market.

They are not required to share data on specific devices, and this isn't data they are sharing to begin with..it's leaked/calculated data reported by a third party. Legally they only have to report total revenue and profit per division. From my experience, they always push the delivery date out much further than needed. I've always gotten my Apple deliveries a week to two weeks earlier than the date given.

Just speaking from my experience at work, but my department is about 60 people, with 3/4 being iPhone users. Only one person even knew the 16 had been released other than me. It's a high-earning crowd, just no one cares anymore.

Where are the sales down? The analysts just say down, its performing poorly in China due to the government crackdown on us of Apple devices and growth of Huawei there. So is the damand really down worldwide or are the numbers down due to the China market which is Apple's second largest market. We really wont know since Apple is not releasing numbers nor are they required. Im also seeing at leat here in the US less frequent upgrades for the average person due to the top 2 carriers (VZW/AT&T) changing their installment agreements from 24-36 months so most people dont upgrade for 2-3 years.

Ultimately only Apple know if pre-orders are down, and I suspect the media have just used some creative writing to report that demand is lower and trouble is just around the corner (it’s not).

The 16 Pro Max is a terrible phone? It hasn’t even been released. Your entire OP is predicated on nothing more than you coming up with false barricades in your head. Next time, consider waiting until you have actual facts in hand before creating such a thread.
But but but.... the random MR user John said that it is terrible so it has to be true!

Is there really no supply? Because it seems like it's only certain models that are delayed. When I pre ordered from AT&T if I remember right the 256GB models were delayed but most of the 512GB models were available this Friday.

I ordered the Pro Max Desert Titanium with 512GB on the 13th and I see the following on my account:

Maybe AT&T is lying (hopefully not, I'm excited!) but it looks like only certain models are impacted by the delay, which makes me think it's just a supply chain issue and they had trouble producing certain storage sizes/colors.

The Apple Store App has changed to "Check back later for availability on 9/20" when you configure an iPhone and try to check in-store pickup availability.

This differs from yesterday and before, during which you could indeed check availability of the various configurations for pickup on 9/20 and beyond!

Ordered an iPhone 16 Pro 128 GB through AT&T on launch day 9/20. Checked today and not scheduled to ship until 10/22. Wtf

Is this what stock crashing looks like?
