4.7 without a doubt, I tried the 6S Plus for 4 months and hated it, I swapped it for the SE which I love and wanted a change (could have got the 6S but the SE has better design).

To be honest I will probably buy the 4.7 iPhone 7 regardless.

4.7 was my answer.

In real life I've actually gone smaller and got the SE, which so far seems to have a battery life comparable to what I've been getting out of my 6S Plus.

I would stick with the SE. I had an android that was a bit smaller than the 4.7" iPhone and it was too big so when I went back to the iPhone I decided that if I had to give up one handed use I'd at least get the biggest screen I could so I went with the + and it's been better than the android, but now that the SE is out I want one and don't think I'd go with a phone that can't be used one handed again no matter what the specs.

I purchased the 6s last year over the 6s Plus but this year the exclusive features has already persuaded me to purchase the iPhone 7 Plus. Dual-camera, 3GB of RAM (possibly) and bigger battery.

I would hope that the 4.7 and the 5.5 will have the same features, but regardless...I will never buy the 5.5 phone, even if it were priced the same.

Simply too big...

If both phones had same internals, the 5.5" wouldn't cost the same as the 4.7" model. You got it backwards, the 4.7" model would increase in price to the same as the 5.5" model.

That would be a tough sell for many.

I'm not sure what new features would justify another $100-$150 extra.

Much of the rationale for the plus or the rumored pro is the larger screen, etc so if the 4.7 screen remains unchanged, what we are we getting?

Better camera.

No it would not. The 5.5 would always be more, simply because the screen is larger, and the screen would cost more.

I opted for the 6 plus for the screen size and the keyboard layout in landscape.

What I choose this time around depends on what Apple lay on the table.

I used to own a 6 Plus, then bought a 6s and upgraded to 6s Plus simply because the battery life is so much better. I wish they've the same internals and features because I prefer the 4.7 inch size.

Oh well I got used to it!

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem the extra screen materials would cost $100 more. As I said before, if Apple kept everything exactly the same between the the two and left the price where it is I'd have to pass. That would be ridiculous to leave empty space when they could fit in more tech and then charge us more for something that would have inferior performance. Talk about gimping a phone. I fully admit that I may have no idea what I'm talking about...I don't claim any expertise when it comes to this stuff, but to the average consumer that sounds like a terrible deal.

always 5.5 inch for me....i cant see the wood for the trees on the 4.7 inch model am afraid, also not long nails friendly:p

Simply because Apple can, and to add to it, larger screen size TV's cost more than an inch or more smaller TV's. Apple will never sell both the 4.7 and 5.5 at the same price...Never

Then explain why the lte iPad pro 9.7" model is cheaper than the 5.5" iphone.

Smaller components cost more. That is why desktop computers cost less than notebooks.
Not to mention:

  1. Easy to place in pocket
  2. 12 MP camera compared to 8 MP camera
  3. f/2.2 aperture compared to f/2.4 for the iPad Pro
  4. 5 MP f/2.2 facetime camera compared to 1.2 MP f/2.4 for the Pro
  5. Faster TouchID
  6. Smaller component that cost more
;)

Why the bold font?

In any case, The difference in materials between various tv sizes is much greater than what we're talking about here with a smaller product like a phone. Again, it doesn't cost $100 more to simply provide a larger screen for the plus.

I never said that I wanted apple to sell them for the same price...Never. I'm fine with paying more, the money is not really an issue for me. Its just my opinion that it would be a really poor value/bad deal if that $100 premium was only for the extra screen materials. I'd buy something else.

I'd always buy the smaller of the two handsets. Apple need to deliver a 5.5" screen this year with a more compact body IMO. Their nearest rivals are pushing the boundaries of combining large screens with smaller physical attributes and the common bugbear with the Plus has been the exaggerated size in the past. Technology is now at a point where a more compact design is possible.

It'll be exciting to see what they deliver.

Why just have one iPhone?
I use my 5 whenever I walk out the door. I don't even notice it's in my pocket.
I use my 6+ as the -ultimate- iPad Micro with a Loopy Case. Impossible to drop it with a Loopy Case. Extremely easy to hold in the hand. I prefer watching movies on the 6+ than my 9.7" iPad. I don't like the iPad for anything really. The + phones are the ultimate iPads. IMO.

Some days when I'm feeling naughty, I swap the iPhone 5's SIM into the 6+ and drop it in my pocket. Sure as heck don't want to go on a long walk or hike with my 6+ in my pocket though...too big.
