lagging stuttering... have I stumbled into androids and samsungs forum?

* that was the way they performed when iOS first came out and iOS was buttery smooth

** no one at top to really shout and fire people if they are B team players?

Far too many Apple apologists here. Since I am paying them full price for their phones and ipads, I will not cut them any slack. iOS 8 in its current form is un-optimised pile of carp.

Somewhere it feels that Apple leadership have relaxed attitude when it comes to software quality and smoothness. Steve Jobs would have yelled at the current iOS team and may have even fired Sir Ives.

Don't worry, I saw a 6 Plus lag when opening Messages, yes, A 6 PLUS. It's just iOS 8 and should be fixed in an update. Maybe they shouldn't have put so much blur in iOS.

No lag on my iPhone 5.

Bring back Forstall!! Lol

Seriously though I have a little lag on Safari on my Ipad Mini but it still runs smoother than Android and hopefully they will get things sorted quickly. I do agree though, I would have expected better from Apple before IOS7. They set the bar high and will be held to that high standard.

No lag? It takes at least 2-3 second for messages to load. All you get before is the white screen

Edit: Safari going pervious page or next page when swipe from edge left and right takes long time for pages to reload.

Messages loads straight away for me. No white screen. Nothing.

iOS 8 is purring like a kitten on my iPhone 5S.

Notice how the speed of the 6 models are NOT double that of the 5S, as has been the case of the previous iPhone line models; that means something indicative that iOS shouldn't have much problem at all with the 5S hardware.

Ios 8 has been working pretty nicely on my 5s. Only slowdown I noticed is the black screen hangs a bit longer now when opening apps.

Then, I'm sorry but I'm calling a conspiracy theory. Apple deliberately slows down their old hardware.

Or new software is more demanding than older software. It's written and optomized for newer hardware. This isn't Apple "deliberately" slowing down their old hardware. It is technology moving forward and/or sloppy coding at worst.

6 has only a tiny performance advantage over 5s. The RAM is the same, even the CPU is the same, Cyclone, only a 100MHz faster.

According to benchmarks, the A8 is 25% faster than the A7. There is more going on that just a 100MHz upgrade, which alone would attribute about 7.7% boost in speed.

There is no reason for the 5s to slow down at all with iOS 8.

Anyway, I really don't need to be argumentative, iOS 8 runs fine on the 5s.

another conspiracy thread about this..& thats why my iphone 5 is doing just fine with ios 8 right..then theres those saying their 5s is "slowing down" & blame apple "apple is doing it in purpose!1one"

every year this "apple is doing this to previous devices on purpose" crap..

Since this 4S I'm using in the meanwhile is pretty quick I think 5S will be as well

I have been running iOS8 ever since it's leak, and and I confirm that it is faster in every way.

All apps haven't updated for iOS8 yet so don't know how widgets will affect it, but I doubt it will be any slower than 7.1 overall.
