If the event is next Tuesday (Oct 4), will invites go out tomorrow?

If in fact the event is to take place on Tuesday, October 4th, I would assume the latest they'd wait to send invites is Friday, September 30th. I can't really seen them sending invites during the weekend and Monday would only leave one day for media people to make the trek, which seems very unreasonable.

IMO Friday would be very late if the event is indeed the next Tuesday. The latest they should do is Wednesday.

I say Friday at the latest because Apple has gone as far as waiting 3 days prior to a campus held event before sending out invited. Friday would leave 4 days.

a week in advance is vital, any other time they have MAJOR events and MAJOR events on campus it is around a week before, it's only minor events that get 3 days before, and I'm pretty sure the event is probably the most hyped, anticipated, and exciting event since probably the unveiling of the iPad 1 or the iPhone 1.... so im guessing invites go out tomorrow and the event is october 4th.

This is all assuming the event really is on the 4th. I sure hope it is.

I tend to agree though, i think we will probably see the invites tomorrow. If we don't i'm going to start thinking the October 4th date is incorrect.

Man, they could send the invites out the day before and the media would still haul a** to get there in time.

This. The media, and anybody else who has the slightest interest in their products for that matter, are so eager to see what Apple's been up to, they could announce it a day in advance in the largest auditorium they could find and it would still be completely full.

Valid point. But realistically, not many journalist outside of US may not be able to make it.

Cook should have the invites go out on Wednesday, maybe a half hour before Amazon's event starts. :D

That's pretty inconsiderate for Journalists who have to book flights.
Do Apple book (and pay for) the flights and hotels for international journalists? I know that companies that I've worked for in the past have done this. If so then Apple might have some seats held for key international journalists and a block booking at one or more hotels near the campus.

For one fairly recent event within the last 18 months or so (I forget which one) Apple did a simulcast to the BBC centre in London where they hosted various UK journalists and probably journalists from some from other European countries as well. This might be another approach that they could take if they are putting out invitations at short notice.

There will be a few folks in the media who already know about it (i.e. Mossberg), but outside of that, Apple knows that journalists will book flights & pay whatever to be there, so what do they care if they have to book it 3 days or 7 days out.

This is the world of the media. Breaking news doesn't announce itself a week in advance. They are used to it.

The ones that will get pissed are the poor bloggers who live on a ramen noodle budget to put out a mac fanboy blog & somehow fell face first into an invite. but once again, why does Apple care?

I would find this completely implausible. No way do they pay for any journalist to come to their press event. If they want to be there, they will find a way to be there. If not, tough ****.

So this morning I was googling some stuff (completely unrelated) and came across this image (below), I clicked on the image which then led me to a news article that was based entirely on what I wrote on the Sept 26 on this thread regarding the invitation timeline.

I was quoted and credited in the image and article, but I was wondering if the person who wrote that article is actually a MacRumors Forum user, or did someone just scrape that information. Either way, Thanks.
