...what are you doing with your original?

I'm giving my iPad 1 (still in pristine condition) to my mom...

Keeping my 2 near the couch at home...and taking my 3 along when I'm on the road...

Anybody have any creative uses? Like giving the old one to charity, etc.?

2 yr old original to my sis
5 mo old iPad 2 to my wife
1 day old new iPad to me :D

Girlfriend has been using it for the last 6 months so I actually get an iPad again!

Same here my iPad 2 is going to my Mom. She's 83 so it's going to be an adventure for sure!

I sold my first iPad, and am using my iPad 2 for work/marketing purposes, and using my new iPad for recreational use! :D

The $ helped a family member. :)

My 13 year old daughter got my original iPad (wife already has an iPad 2).

I see I'm in good company. You KNOW our loved ones will love their "new" iPads...

...and how great to know that our "old" toys will get a second life. :)

My mom is so cute...when she's not driving me nuts...

She usually chastises me on always wanting the best and the newest tech..."Why do you need more computers?" is her constant refrain...

My brother left his iPad on an American Airlines flight in Miami several months ago and it was returned to him by the airline several days later. He had already gotten a replacement iPad so he gave his iPad to a friend.

I asked my mom why he didn't give the original iPad to her...half-expecting her to say, "What do I need with an iPad?" but much to my surprise, she said, "Yeah...I might like an iPad." LOL

I can't wait...:)

Gave my iPad 2 to my mom.

both my mom and stepmother are obsessed with the ipod touch. they use it constantly. so naturally they both would enjoy an ipad and screen upgrade to a much better size. The problem is they both want it. so I have to decide which one. regardless who i choose the other will be pissy. so maybe my sister will get it (she has a kindle fire) and i will have to arrange something else for the moms.

I'm sure no one cares but here's my story:

When I got the iPad 2, I sold my original 64 GB ATT on EBay instant sale and got $575.

This time around the best price I could find was $500 from Amazon. Asked my wife if she wanted it (another 64 GB AT&T), or should I take the money and she replied that she wanted the iPad. Now I've been wanting her to get one. She does everything on her iPhone - reading, Facebook, games, E Online, etc.

So, I started thinking. We've switched our iPhones from AT&T to Verizon for better coverage in our area. I had ordered a 64GB Verizon from Apple. There's been talk of Verizon offering family data plans. Also, there is no way my wife would need 64 GB. So, Friday morning, I call the local Verizon store from work and learn that they got a bunch in and hardly anyone in the store. I race down there, pick up a 32 GB from them and sent my iPad 2 off to Amazon today (offer was good only up till today).

I've set up her new iPad and have been teaching her about different Apps, but haven't yet told her that she is actually using a new iPad. I think the $229 difference is worth the diff, especially if we can later save some money with a family data plan. Hoping she agrees!

I sold both my 1 and 2 about 2-4 weeks before the announcements of the next generation iPad releases.

My previous iPad 2 will sit on the coffee table as a remote control - Remote app for the AppleTV, Comcast/Xfinity app for the cable box/DVR, Harmony Link app for TV, BluRay player and sound bar, and music app for AirPlay speakers.
