There is literally a sticky thread on this exact thing with all sorts of links....

Seems to me that if you are switching to the 14, you would use eSIM from then on and if you wanted to use the 11, you'd switch to that eSIM. Depending on the carrier, this can be as easy as providing the IMEI on their website, or it can be a bit less convenient if you have to give them a call or go to one of their stores.

A problem could arise if you are out in the boondocks someplace with both phones and the one you have the eSIM working with has an issue. With no WiFi connection, no working phone to make a call on, and no store to go to, you'd be without a phone altogether.

Frankly, although the rest of world seems to do as Apple does and it just may catch on, I think it's a pretty big mistake on Apple's part to do this and I hope that they see this by the time the iphone 15 is fully finished.

Yeah but there a ton of content.

A quick answer from someone that knows would help.

I have vibration damage form motorcycle on my iPhone 12 Pro. I’m going to get the iPhone 14 Pro but I want to switch phones when riding so I don’t damage the camera on my new phone.

This feature is available on T-Mobile. Both the 14 PM, 13 Mini and AW 7 are all "paired" to the same master phone number via E-sim. It is done using their DIGITS feature.

I will add it takes an associate with in-depth knowledge of how DIGITS works to get them to sync. The one issue I have is when all the devices are on the same WiFi network. No issues when on cellular. If both phones are online when receiving a call the call will always fail. It does not affect the AW however.

Depends on the carrier. I'm in Canada and one carrier let's you swap it for free once per month. Another carrier let's you swap it as much as you would like but they charge a $10 fee. My carrier lets you do it as much as you want for free (I think).

If both phones have e-SIM, you can toggle it under "Cellular" > "Add eSIM'" and then it prompts to "Set Up Cellular". The drawback I've found is you have to be under WiFi to complete the change back and forth (or at least it prompted me to).
