Why record video that wouldn’t even show good on the screen? FPS

I think the new iPhone will have a ProMotion display.
Also to help with augmented reality as well.

High frame rate video is typically captured to play back at 30 or 24fps in order to create slow motion video. There really isn’t a link between the capture frame rates and a justification for a 120 hz display. It’s not going to show badly on the screen, and most if not all professional cinema cameras and production monitors are 60hz as well. There isn’t a benefit to watching back real-time, non-slow footage at high frame rates, industry wide.

I hope it has ProMotion for sure, but video is mostly intended to be viewed at 24 or 30fps. Apple has actually added “film style” 24fps capture options into the default camera app for the X which I’ve been hoping they’d do for years.

Why can 7+ capture 4K but the screen taps out at 1080p?

Or how nice is it, to airplay a 4K video to a 1080p ATV4?

:D

Apple needs to hold onto their margins, and leave some breathing room for future iterations. IPhone 8/X wont be the last iPhones ever released

Even the iPhone X wont have anywhere near a 4K resolution screen, according to leaks

1125×2436

It may or may not be compatible with HDR as well!

Gotta have #s to get people hyped into buying products. The new Apple TV will have 4k and HDR, but the content isn't there, so it's really an early adoption cost. A 4k screen on a 5.8" device is pointless because you cannot enjoy good battery life.

I don’t think its a given content wont be there.

I would hope for as much as Apple’s been dragging their feet on releasing a 4K set top box compared to competition, that they’d have handfuls of iTunes 4K HDR tittles ready to enjoy right away

But since its Apple, and since the 4K tv adoption thing severely outpaced broadcasting standards and general 4K stream content and adoption of 4K blu ray ,you could be right :D

Well, put it this way, the content could be there in bits and pieces, but in terms of ubiquity like FHD or HD? Will be awhile to get that place.

You're right, or have any perceivable benefit of 4K resolution on a 5.8" display save for virtual reality.

VR is better on standalone devices tbh because you will have tons of heat and very little battery life. The Vive and Oculus are pricey though.
