The older models I agree, but I think the newer MacBooks (with the ventilation arrangement along the spine) are designed a little more with this type of use in mind. After all, Apple sell this stand in their store -it would be pretty reckless of them to promote & sell a product that could cause damage to a MacBook when used. I know what you are saying though. The wifi performance takes a huuuuuuge dip when the MacBook is used this way.
