Yes, started seein all these renders on insta 3 days ago. I won’t lie I would be touched. I hope they don’t give it dual cam. But even if they do I would have 6 months to upgrade.

No, because it was expected the XR2 would get dual cameras from day one.

In China, the XR is priced the same as Huawei Mate 20 Pro which has three rear cameras, in-display fingerprint sensor, Face ID, and a 6.4" OLED. Guess where Apple isn't doing so well in Q4?

Wouldn’t bother me at all as I don’t really use the camera often. I think the 6 and up probably take good enough pictures for me.

Eh I wouldn't really care. The new model SHOULD be better than the one I have. I really love my Xr and don't see myself upgrading for AT LEAST two years. Maybe more if I get the battery replaced towards the end of the two years.

This question is nonsensical. In an economic model built upon revising products so that they updated each year, we’re going to question whether people will get upset that a phone gets the same treatment as every other consumer good out there?

The nerve of Toyota to put out a 2019 Camry only a year after releasing a 2018 model! And get this, some of the features are UPGRADED to incentivize purchasing the new over the old!

Isn't that Apple's normal MO? Hold something back on this years release to put on next years. Next year: A13 Superbionic chip and telephoto lens for ONLY $50 more than last years model.

Best comparison could be selling you a 2018 Camry with a 2010 spec powertrain, and then in 2019 like magic they put a brand new , much better for the same price. You will feel cheated.

Can you really feel cheated when you can see that this is how all products are marketed? You’d have to live under a rock to not understand that there will be a new main selling point next year into perpetuity.

There’s something about cell phones where this seems to upset people. Perhaps because they truly are the most personal devices we own? Food for thought.

Xr1 owners, chime in!

thats the rumor,

I’m not a XR owner, but why would they (Consumers, forum members, ect) care? If you think about it, if Apple updates the XR in some form or fashion, the consumer usually sees certain things they understand that they want in an upgraded iPhone, like a Camera, or features like ‘Live Photos’ [Generally things marketed], etc. consumers generally don’t care about things like processors, Ram management or LCD/OLED differences.

This question is kind of dumb.... It's exactly what I'd expect, an improvement over this years XR. If I got upset, then I'd be perpetually upset a year after I buy an iPhone since they get features added each year.

Now a small exception to this is if I bought an XR within days, or maybe weeks of the XR2 being released... but then again, most people should know better to not do something like that.

thats the rumor,

I would be sad to lose wide angle portrait ability, low light portrait ability and most importantly not having the phone tell me to move back or forward to take a portrait shot.

I would probably upgrade if the silicon improvements are substantial and if they have it in blue. Still would really hate to “upgrade” to dual lens.

I don’t think there is any doubt that the new XR will have to have dual cameras to compete against the completion. Apple can’t release another single camera model or serious questions will be asked. People expect products to get better each year so nobody should be annoyed.

I also think they will upgrade the screen to 1080p to dispel the negativity it got this year. The screen was great but so much was made of the lower ppi I think Apple will want to take that aspect away as it’s surely lost them some interest.

I think that’s less likely given most of the media coverage was positive on the XR’s display. We’ve got a few spec nit pickers here but they don’t represent the majority.

Most importantly, a resolution bump simply isn’t needed. It would also displace the XS. The 5.8” display is already considered small by 2019 standards. Having a high resolution 6.1” with dual lenses would make the XS even less relevant.

I came from a dual cam equipped iPhone 8 Plus to the XR and I do not miss it.
I barely used the second lense and do not care about it. That made the decision easy to switch to the XR.

Your post actually had me thinking, I to rarely use the dual camera capabilities. It’s nice to have the option, but I find myself realizing it’s not as useful for my situations,
And I gather the consumer is perfectly fine with XR set up as it is.

I saw quite a lot of questioning around the screen from articles and reviewers and although it was agreed the screen was good, the question was asked why they didn’t just use the same PPI as the 8+. The XR is the main iPhone in the line up to replace the 6,7,8 etc so it needs to be offering a spec that competes with the competition going forward. As the premium market looks at OLED, I think the very least the mainstream market needs is full HD as we’ve grown used to. It’s fine for this year but Apple need to upgrade and move with the industry standard. The XS is irrelevant to the average consumer at this point.

So you're looking for a price increase? Better hardware costs more money and Apple will not lower their margins.

That’s up to Apple, I’m suggesting keeping the cost inline with what they were able to deliver on the 8+. Whether or not they keep the size the same as it is would also be a consideration as it appears to put some off as it is. I’m obviously looking at this from the consumers point of view as Apples profits are of no interest to me to be honest. That’s down to them to figure out and adapt if needed if they want continued popularity.
