After around 50 votes I'm kind of surprised by the 60-40 Mac - iOS split. Probably in the general population iOS devices would get even more votes, but in this biased sample, I was expecting a larger lead for Mac.

I voted Mac by the way. I don't need the huge app ecosystem of iOS devices so could live with the alternatives.

iPhone. So tough that you didn't two products we could have. I'd much prefer that - so I can have iPhone and Mac Pro!

That would have been too easy! :D

Mac, hate working on windows PCs, but could get on with out the iphone, on any mobile like the old days.

I'd take a mac because I already live with a non Apple phone, but I wouldn't enjoy being without an iPod. All other music players in my opinion suck. I owned probably 5 different models over the years and when the first iPod Nano came out I said screw it, and bought it. Only old iPod that I still have.

At first I thought I would vote for iPad or iPhone. I ended up voting for the Mac.

It really, really pained me to think of doing without the others. Especially iPad, and my iPod collection, and maybe especially those indestructible little 2nd gen nanos. They are the impulse grab and go of my musical life now, each one with a couple gig of something or other stashed on them. They sit on top of the microwave in a dish like a bunch of jellybeans.

However, as to the bottom line for purposes of this poll: I had to vote for the Mac, really. I have used Macs since 1985 and you can teach an old dog a few new tricks but you can't teach this old witch to love Windows-based computing again. Just not gonna happen. When I run that bootcamp Windows to borrow library books, I feel like it's 1991 all over again and I can hardly wait to get out of there. I'm sure that's unfair to the developers at Microsoft but that's how it is for me. The Mac is in my blood. Knowing how to use that OS was instrumental in making my professional career more enjoyable, and the laptops have been a joy in my private life all this time.

So I'd use my old Juke as an MP3 player (because it still is one: I formatted the drive and dragged a bunch of mp3s onto it once so I guess I could update it the same way). I'd use my LG CU515 as a cellphone. I still do sometimes, actually; it's my secondary line's phone. And it also has some of my MP3 burns dragged onto it somehow. I live in a dead zone so my iPhone is essentially an iPod touch on WiFi anyway. I'd miss it and my iPod touch, intensely, especially for portable video options, but I could learn again to watch my movies on the Mac laptop. I'd miss the iPad more...

Interesting poll. I learned something about myself. Fortunately for ATT & Apple, I bumped into this poll after I upgraded to iPhone 4S!

Poor Apple TV, no votes :(

I picked Mac, Mac Pro all the way :D or maybe Macbook Pro....

If I pick the Mac category does that mean as many Macs as I want or just one Mac?

Phone Windows 7 Phone LG Quantum (Sorry guys, I've wanted it since it came out!) Or maybe Sony Xperia Play

Tablet I suppose an Android Tablet, I really want a tablet to use that has a decent Marketplace.

MP3 I suppose a Zune, blech..

TV I would Use my Xbox 360 or a PS3 if I end up getting one..

Hardly a surprise though, WRT Apple TV.

Yeah I was thinking in terms of categories. So if you picked Macs and you are someone who uses more than one computer, non of these would need to be Windows/Linux computers if you didn't want them to be.

Definitely an iPad 2. No other manufacturer comes close to Apple's awesome hardware and software combination.

Laptop: Asus UX31 running OS X Lion. If hackintoshes are against the rules of this scenario, I'd choose the same laptop but dual booting a Linux distro and Windows 8.
Phone: HTC Thunderbolt, Inspire, Titan, Droid Incredible 2, or Samsung Galaxy S II. All of these phones are just as good or better than the iPhone when it comes to hardware in my opinion, but are a little lacking in software. Good enough for me though.

I hadn't previously given any thought to hackintoshes, but I think they should be against the rules because the OS is meant to be exclusive to Mac hardware.

I do like the idea of listing what alternatives you'd go for. Here's my list:

Computer: Mac
Phone: Windows Phone (I tried Android before I got my iPhone, but got fed up with the fragmentation)
Tablet: Windows 8 when it comes out (thinking of getting one for the benefit of an active digitizer anyway since I hardly use my iPad) or do without a tablet
MP3 Player: I have zero idea of the market beyond iPods. I'd just have to hope that there is something I wouldn't mind using.
Alternative to Apple TV: No need for one. I don't use Apple TV.
