I got my confirmation notice but I am thinking that if I go in the afternoon it will be less busy. If you did personal pickup, did you have to wait in line long to pick up your iPad Air?

nope, i got there 10 minutes before the store opened...there were only like 10 people in line, split between walk-ins and already paid. took about 2 minutes total.

one note, they did not have any 128gb models for walk-ins

I hope they didn't send "pick-up" notices for that model to those people who ordered it.

Store had been open twenty minutes when I got there. Sales associate met me at the door and sold me one. No line, no shortage. Right now anyway. This was in Durham NC

They didn't have any iPad air 64gb verizon pickup at both apple stores I checked (Aork business trip to augusta GA today and Altamonte Springs Florida). They do have iPad verizon 64gb at Mall of millennia and Florida mall but I am too lazy to drive 30-40 min there while Altamonte is 10 min from my house in Orlando area on the north side. Augusta Apple store 10 min from my business meeting.

I just did regular shipping to my home and it should be there November 4th. I can wait.

Very slow. Nobody else was in the pickup line, but it still took about 10 minutes to get in and about 10 more minutes for them to bring the thing out from the back.

if you ordered the 128gb online for pickup, they had it....but if you just walked up to the store and wanted one, you didn't. they advised people that wanted one to order it online right there and wait about 2 hours for them to get the confirmation email, then come back

seemed kind of crazy

Austin, Texas (Domain)

There were two separate lines - about 30 people for walk-ins, and 6 of us for online pickups.

Got in and out by 8:07am. Very quick.

Got there 10-15 min after opening. There was ONE in line for store pickup and about 10 in the regular line. I was very surprised.

That does seem stupid and likely a store manager stupidity not an Apple one.

When I arrived for the 8 AM opening, there was an existing line of about 50 at Houston Galleria. Lots of staff. I was out with my prepaid 16G WiFi Air in 5 minutes

Got there around 4 o'clock today. It was packed, but for various things NOT just for the iPad. I used to work at a Best Buy and that happened during any major Apple release. It draws this hype around technology and gadgets in general and it gets busy on release for all the product categories. Talk about a hype machine...

But anyway, I was in and out within 10 minutes. They had a VERY short queue of people waiting for in-store pick-up. Literally there was 2 of us. Then the employee helped me look at Smart Covers for a minute while someone brought out the iPad. Very quick.

I arrived 45 minutes before the store opened. They called for people who did personal pick up, and they pulled us out of line. I was the first one in the store at 8 AM, and received my device and was out of the place by about 8:10.

Went to the local Tmobile store around 5PM and walked out with a slate 16gb. Sales rep told me the only got 2 16gbs in today & the other sold about 5 min before me.

Less than 15 minutes door-to-door this afternoon.

Store was not busier than any other Friday.

I went in at lunchtime so there was a wait of about 10 minutes in line. There were two lines, one for walk-ins and one for pick-ups. They were taking five pick-up customers for every walk-in customer (Genius told me in advance and I watched and they did). Pick-up customers were taken from line two at a time to keep things moving quickly. There were about 10 people in front of me.

It was about 20 minutes from when I arrived to when I walked out with and iPad Air.
