I still like Apple's keyboards, system builds, retina screens and OS X but I need ports so if that happens, I'll have to move on too.

There are better keyboards (Asus Zenbook) and displays (3200x1800 IPS) around. The only loss would be OS X, but I will not put up with underpowered laptops and disappearing ports just to have the Mac OS, especially given what a MacBook costs.

I think there is currently just this one, but yes there will be more as Apple again stimulates the market.
That's an interesting view, considering that the Samsung was announced 4 months before the Macbook and has actually been available for a while now.
If you noticed this:

"The Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) is 8 percent taller and just a hair wider. As thin as the new MacBook is, Samsung managed to make its laptop 11 percent thinner."

"Samsung wins the thinness crown, but Apple’s is lighter: by 3 percent. Once you factor in the Ativ’s larger frame, "

The extra width and height is the trade-off. More room for more ports. I stand on what I wrote.
8% taller and "just a hair" wider, and actually thinner. That's supposed to have prevented Apple from including some ports? Are you kidding me?
So if you want a Windows machine, buy the Samsung. It's that easy.
But I want an OS X machine. That's why I'm disappointed.

I get what you are saying, you've said it on many threads. Don't forget that the Macbook is tapered. It is only 13.1mm at the very back and tapers severly down to only 3.5mm.

The entry level 13" rMBP is the same price as the entry level rMB. Yes it's heavier than the MBA but I'm guessing people that need more ports and power are less concerned about weight.

Entry-level MacBook includes 256GB flash storage whereas entry-level rMBP includes 128GB flash storage. 13" rMBP with 256GB costs $100 more. Having said that, $100 is not a huge chunk of money in the grand scheme of things, especially since many MacBook buyers will spend $79 for USB-C Digital AV Multipart Adapter.

Apple's reasoning becomes clearer once you eliminate MBA from the line up. 12" rMB will become a logical choice for would-be 11" MBA buyers and 13" rMBP for would-be 13" MBA buyers.

And I'm an 11" MBA owner switching over to the rMB. The 13" MBA people are probably the people grumbling the most. They will probably be most interested in the next generation MBP (that is reduced in size and weight).

people are complaining because people can complain.

i was looking forward to the "retina macbook air" but I expected to be disappointed from the one port rumors that ended up being true.

In fact, nabbed a 2014 13" rMBP from the refurb store the day of. I wanted Mavericks too.

*if* rMB had some ports, I'd be a lot more tempted. But one for all is craziness to me for what I use my computer for. And I'm not sure I'd want to go less than 13.3" anyways

In 5 years the MacBooks will all be as thin as 2 sheets of paper (rumour).

I did... before i knew of this New MacBook. I would still get the rMBP. I like the idea of this little Mac but i have no reason to own one.
